Politics is one of these subjects that has always been very touchy for people, a very passionate subject, one which I’m not scared to speak my mind about. I tend to avoid politics however mostly because all it does, is cause nothing but fights or arguments. Being a very big admirer of Robert Burns for what he stood for, it is obviously in my belief that there is no need for war, I’m strongly opposed to all that war stands for, and in my belief, there really should never have been a war in Iraq and Afghanistan. So much lies lingers from government politicians about why our people were going to war, the lies about ‘Weapons of Mass Destruction.’ All this to claim they were after Osama Bin Ladin in a cave and lies our people have been fed with over everything the war stood for. I won’t go into the subject based upon 9/11 simply because it’s a touchy subject, but the bottom line is, I don’t believe for one second that it was something terrorist just out of pure hatred for the United States.

It’s a very deep subject and of course, families lost their lives. One’s out there that have been seeking truth for years, continue to fight for that truth, meanwhile, whilst fighting for that truth, a lot has been hidden from the public. What a lot of people don’t realise is, the President isn’t really the power of the United States, Bankers are the ones who are the power above the US Government, they are the ones who dictate, control whether the country goes to war, their justice system and even media. I speak passionately of that because I know it’s not some conspiracy theory, but from what I have learned in time, it’s really not worth arguing with people, you let them believe what they like. I mean you could point them square pin point blank in the face, our own politicians in the house of parliament, speaking about the New World Order, and they’d still call it a conspiracy theory.

The main point and belief from my view, there is no need for war, there is always a way for everything and despite evil dictatorship, there is always a means of being diplomatic. Obviously I could go into depth about 9/11, but again, that is a waste of time. I tend to avoid political things for this reason, because when it comes to certain people, there is no reasoning, in fact, all you are to them is a complete nut case for believing in the New World Order, despite it’s based on something factual rather than some theory. It’s amazing what certain people call theory these days, despite evidence staring them pin point blank in the face. Let’s just say, I’m against war and my feelings about how things have happened in the recent past only proves how little the peoples opinion matters. Protests and our word don’t matter, despite protests against war, our country is still sitting abroad fighting wars, same with America.

The only way I see things changing, is if people waken up to the truth and reality and start fighting for their freedom. People have no clue who really runs their country, they think it’s a prime minister or a president, they’d look at you like you’re stupid or been reading some made up crap if you were to tell them it’s the bankers that rule the government. Little do they realise, this is within truth. This is why you’re saying Prime ministers and Presidents pre picked before the people even start voting. In an ideal world, I’d love to see someone like Ron Paul take over the United States, to break the US free from the tyranny of the Feds and reduce the size of the government, as well as reduce government spending. In tough times like this, we have no option, because spending won’t get us anywhere. I think since President Obama has taken over as President, evidence shows this, as America is even further in debt.

The fact things like SOPA, PIPA and NDAA have recently propped up in our news, that President Obama is basically signing away America’s Independence and taking a clear step to heading america towards Communism, people are still too blind to even see this. They still continue to support him and believe he’s there to fix the country. And so when you sit and tell people in Scotland, that their true enemy is not the British Government, but what controls the British Government, their attitude is that, you’re the crazy one. This is how much power and control these bankers have, and so far, their plans are certainly working, because these people continue to believe the crap.

But you know something, I’m sick and tired of feeling like I should feel oppressed and locked up inside, made to feel like I’m the stupid or crazy one, you know what? If people think that, fuck them, that’s their problem. Whilst they sit and believe the media fed to them, I’ve paid attention to what the media blocks. Of course the media is going to block it, because it’s a potential threat to them. The more people who know about the NWO, (New World Order) the bigger threat people pose to their plans. And because the people woke up to the tyranny of SOPA and PIPA, you see they backed down, all they are going to do now, is hold off a little, wait until people fall asleep again, and then place SOPA and PIPA in control over what we see and do on the internet.  Why do they want to restrict you from a freedom of what you can see and do? Because it’s their dictatorship. Knowledge is power, the more knowledge you have, the less likely you’re going to accept their bullshit. It’s time people start wakening up and seeing this dictatorship, they’re leading us towards slavery.

Instead, people would rather sit back and ignore everything to do with the New World Order, instead of doing research upon it’s reality, instead of realising it is something of a reality, they’d rather sit back and believe that it’s something made up. What people don’t understand is, these corrupted bankers that control the governments, not only hold a war debt over Great Britain, but rule the United States Government. You ask some people what the EU is, and some people actually think it means something good, they don’t understand why there is one currency for all those European countries, they don’t understand why everyone of those countries are Socialist and yet they turn a blind eye to Italy, when it came to bringing in a new Prime Minister, instead of the people having democracy (a vote) for who goes in power, dictatorship took place, and surprise, surprise, a Socialist Economist as a Prime Minister, was placed in power of Italy.

The New World Order is all for restricting people of freedom, doing away with what you call democracy and you can more or less see Scotland heading in the same direction, if we end up part of the European Union. I would more than love an Independent Scotland, but my passionate view is against it because the current state of our economy and because people need to know who their real enemy is.

A while back I was browsing around YouTube for videos on rats, purely because I adore rats and would love them as pets. I came across this really popular video that was getting a lot of views, I thought nothing of it at the time and was interested to find out what the whole fuss was about. A video of a  hamster on a leash. I’ve never owned a hamster, so wouldn’t know much about leashes for hamsters. So I sat and watched this video, of a family travelling out towards the pet store to buy a hamster. As the video went on, the kid who had just got the hamster, had it out on the street attached by a small leash or rope or whatever. You could tell the hamster was unsure of it’s surroundings, out on a pavement where it could potentially become busy, I mean all it takes is a passer-by to step on the thing without realising it, like accidentally stepping on dogs dirt.

What got me the most, was at one point, the boy tugged the hamster with the leash and picked it right up off the ground, now if you were to actually look at a hamsters rib cage, look at the skeletal structure of a hamster, and you can clearly see just how delicate it’s bone structure really is. The way this hamster was treated was nothing other than animal cruelty. Which brings me onto the subject on animal cruelty. This

reminds me of much of the animal cruelty you find across my own country. I remember there being news of a Staffordshire bull terrier being tied to a tree and shot to death by a Pellet gun, or this dog that was a stray and had it’s tail chopped off. The dog was rushed to the vet, but unfortunately, they couldn’t save it in time, it sadly lost it’s life, purely because of heartless cruelty.

It draws the question of how anyone can do this to an animal, to me, I’ve looked after dogs and cats and I absolutely adore them, I adore rats and love pets. They’re the most loving animals you could have, even my fish. Their disobedience reminds you of the way a normal child behaves, but they’re entertaining and fun to watch. It makes you question these type of people, for them to treat any animal like that, they have to be completely heartless and not right in the head. I know that if I had a Rat right now or a cat or dog, they’d be my wee pal, best friend, I’d even have a Rat sitting on my shoulder. I adore animals, and does nothing more than anger me to see people mistreat them in a horrible manner.

Ben Nevis is Scotland and Britain’s tallest mountain, a height of 4,406 feet. It happens to be the foggiest part of Britain, so when climbing Ben Nevis, you tend to find you’re very lucky if you can get a clear view from the summit. I remember climbing Ben Nevis in 2002, I was a lot fitter and was only eighteen years of age at the time. I remember the view then, we were lucky to get a clear view then, you could see for miles. Apparently on a clear day, you can see County Antrim of Northern Ireland from the summit of Ben

Nevis, which to me is incredible. Ben Nevis is situated in the highlands of Scotland, in a small town Fort William. When me and my friends went camping in 2006, we had spent five days in total camping, the first night we slept at Glen Nevis camp site, and then the following morning we climbed Ben Nevis. The third and fourth night, we spent time camping down in Red Squirrel camp site in Glen Coe, and one last night in Glen Nevis.
It was a memorable trip and a great laugh that we had, although not so comfortable for myself, as I had no tent and was sleeping in a poncho, which is almost like a body bag where your sleeping bag goes into. The amount of midges during that time in the summer was horrendous, that is something I highly recommend anyone camping here, to make sure you have midge repellent or something that they don’t like. The female midges are the ones that attack you, as they feed on your blood to carry to their young and there’s millions of them. I’ve heard Scotland’s the worst for them because of the damp climate and in the summer, they seem to be out in full force. So yeah, you could imagine what my face was like at the end of the trip, I was covered in midge bites all over my hands and face.

The best of the trip was without question climbing Ben Nevis, although it was June and was pretty sunny at the foot of Ben Nevis, when we reached three quarters the way up Ben Nevis, it was snowed in. There was a point where me and two of my friends turned around to look for my other two friends, and they were missing, we couldn’t find them anywhere. So we thought we’d start heading back down to see if we could find them. We ended up heading 40 minutes back down Ben Nevis, only for the two of them from the summit of Ben Nevis to tell us on walkie talkie that they had taken a different route from us. So it turned out we were to head back up to where we were and continue on to the summit.

You could imagine what I was like by the time I reached the summit, I was absolutely done for, shattered beyond belief, I stumbled through into the summit, step by step, struggling to reach where I wanted. I remember looking around me in fear, as you couldn’t see a

thing, all the edges had been snowed in. From the first time I climbed Ben Nevis, I remember when entering the summit, there was a massive round curved edge and about 10 to 15 paced steps on the other side of that, was a massive straight edge, so it was like a walk way into the summit. So when I was walking for the summit and everything was snowed in, I was concentrating on where I was walking. By the time I stopped, I was so relieved just to have finished, I was physically and mentally drained.

Upon walking back down from the summit, I remember me and my friends taking a slight wrong path which was dangerous enough, and my friend being my friend, to reach back to the normal path, he took a small short cut across to the normal path. For the life of me, too much was playing on my mind, and thankfully we managed to make our way back down. I was obviously slightly disappointed that I couldn’t catch a view from the summit and the video taken wasn’t my own, but would definitely love to take a lot of video with my own camcorder. Nearing the bottom, I could remember a rescue helicopter passing over us, the constant reminder to how dangerous Ben Nevis is, especially in those conditions, and then I passed a guy wearing no t-shirt, another guy wearing black dress shoes and a brown stripey suit with a hat, and I thought to myself, that’s insanity! It makes you think, ‘No wonder people lose their lives doing things like that.’

After having climbed Ben Nevis and getting back to the camp site, I went into the small shop for a few things and the woman behind the counter had asked me if I had climbed Ben Nevis, I told her we had just finished and her words were, “There have been a lot of fatalities of people climbing Ben Nevis.” Upon hearing that, it made me realise what I had just done. To climb it in 2002 was something special enough, but to climb it in 2006 with those weather conditions at the top, it’s an even bigger achievement, one I still can’t wrap around my head to be honest.

Ben Nevis is definitely not the hardest to climb, but none the less, it’s still dangerous and like I say, if you’re someone that gets a clear view at the top, you’d be very lucky to, the view is outstanding! I would definitely recommend it to anyone that enjoys climbing mountains.

Overall, I had thoroughly enjoyed my time at the Wallace monument, as it had been my first time being there, and because I love taking photographs and video, that’s what I had spent most of my time doing. Upon having left the gift shop in the monument, we went outside, and next to the monument, a crowd of people were gathered around a guy dressed up as Wallace, re-enacting Wallace, telling people the story of Wallace and the battle of Stirling. It was fun to watch and thought the guy was very informative and entertaining.

I had spent time outside taking video of the scenery surrounding the monument before we left Stirling. Overall, I would love to go back and take proper video of the place, as I never had a camcorder at that point in time, only had my digital camera. Plus if more time spent there, I could spend more time reading more stuff there. So I shall leave you with many of these pictures I took that I hope you enjoy.

Leading up into the third floor of the Wallace monument, was a room filled with boards of information, I thought one of the most interesting ones, was the information on how the monument was erected and little facts about the monument. Having 246 spiral steps and reaching 220 feet, it was intimidating looking off from the top of it, with high winds. I enjoyed looking around the third floor and reading from the boards many bits of information, and there quoted, Scots wha hae by Robert Burns “Liberty’s in every blow, let us do or die.” One of the most astounding pieces of information I had read, was that Edinburgh had complained about the situation of the Wallace Monument, and were demanding for it to have been built in Edinburgh. For me, that makes no sense what so ever, I mean there is a city, that has a half built Greek structure, and the reason it is half built is because they ran out of money. Glasgow offered them money to finish it, yet were too prideful to accept money from a city, they look down upon.

And I think demanding for the Wallace Monument at the time to have been built in Edinburgh, pretty much sums it up. I mean the Wallace Monument, situated in Stirling is the fitting place, because it’s rightfully where Wallace fought the battle of Stirling Bridge, one of the biggest victories leading to Scotland’s Independence. May I also remind folk, he was born in Elderslie, which is no doubt the Elderslie in Glasgow. Either way, there was a lot of good information on display to read from, much of which people would find very interesting.

After having spent time in the room with boards of information, we headed up another flight of many spiral steps, which lead us out into the open, from a high point of view, you could see miles surrounding the monument, even Stirling castle. Down below, you could see the river where the famous battle of Stirling bridge happened, where William Wallace defeated the English army. We continued on around the monument up to the top, the winds were high and unfortunate for taking video, the wind ruined that. Upon reaching the top, I met a nice American couple and their excited kid, the top of it with the high winds was intimidating, you don’t realise how high you’re up till you reach the top. The sight however, was well worth it, despite the weather, the view was outstanding. Being someone who loves hiking up mountains and seeing much of the scenery, I loved it.

A lot of the time I had spent taking pictures and video, and it is definitely something I recommend going and checking out for yourself, for the history and the information available. After we had finished looking around, we headed back down to the bottom of the monument, into the gift shop, where I had bought several things. Was well worth the money.

Finally having the opportunity to travel to the Wallace monument, was something I thoroughly enjoyed, not just for the monument itself, but the scenery and history of the land surrounding it. I remember arriving there at the car park, and looking up to the monument at the top of the hill, was a good walk up hill and even from the bottom of the monument, being able to overlook the landscape where the Battle of Stirling would’ve taken place, it was absolutely stunning. For me, there was no better place for the monument to stand, not just for it’s location to speak of the battle, but to sit up high, as you could spot the famous monument for miles.

The Wallace monument may only be about 200 years old, as erected in the 1800′s by our past Scots in memory of our national hero, but none the less, it’s still fascinating to go and see. The steps were very narrow and steep and there were several floors. Upon reaching the first floor after the first flight of steps, you could hear a screen presentation of actors playing the part of Wallace and the English King Edward, it was interesting to sit and watch. I spent most of my time looking around at the pictures placed on the walls surrounding, telling you the history, and of course, sitting in the corner in a large case, the Wallace sword.

As stated, a large part of the blade isn’t the original, so you can see that sword perhaps may only date back 400 years to the 1600′s, I reckon the handle however may have been Wallace’s sword. Regardless, it was interesting to see and it gives you the imagination, Wallace would have to have been strong enough to lift a heavy large blade. Standing next to one of those claymores makes you feel small. Regardless of whether that was his sword or not, it’s a fitting tribute that marks who the man was, a freedom fighter, one admired the world over, someone who marks who our people are in history and I feel that’s what the monument marks, the image of not just the man himself, William Wallace, but a mark of our people, an identity.

After spending considerable time in the room with the Wallace sword, we fled up the other flight of steps, which lead us into a room full of sculptured statues of the faces of many great famous Scots of our history. I instantly clocked my own greatest influence, Robert Burns, and decided to get a picture taken next to it. Many other head sculptures of the likes of Adam Smith and of course Robert the Bruce. There was also a replicated Wallace Sword lying in a case. Overall, I thought it was good to see many of our other Scots shown for display, with audio recordings at each of them, as I say, William Wallace a hero, but yet a mark of who our people are.

It’s a good way for younger Scots out there to learn about many other great Scots in one place, to give the Scottish people an understanding to how significant this nation has been, to who we are as people, why we should be proud of being Scots, as William Wallace and Robert the Bruce weren’t the only significant Scots in our history.

American hate is one of these things that will not die off over night, for as long as tyranny continues to rule over America and it’s government, that hatred will continue. It is sad that the government is blamed upon it’s people, although I guess this is because of the type of support you see through the media, for the likes of Obama, you see the crowded masses cheering with happiness and tears in their eyes, for what? You’d think they’d have finally been set free. For me, seeing the people vote for Ron Paul in their masses would be joyous, because then it’d prove the tyranny above, trying to place someone else in power, over the peoples vote.

Like John Knox 500 years ago, when he ripped Catholicism out of Scotland, ripped the Catholic church out of Scotland, his strong belief was that the people should have their right and say to who goes in power of a nation, a belief in equality, that the power should be held within the people of society, not within the King or Lord. The same should apply today, with the President of the United States, it is the people who hold the power, not the government, and they should never forget this.

No matter how many idiots or ignorant Americans that I come across, I will never let them overshadow my view of the country and it’s people. I have an admiration for the people because they’re different, and I know more than anyone, there are a lot of wonderful people out there in America, people who are being dragged down, because of what? Because of an ignorant number. Just like the analogy of the circle with the ignorance on the outside, there are a lot of good people in the centre. It’s the ignorant ones that stand out the most, because they’re outspoken. You tend to find the vast majority of the good people of America, are often very quiet. It is no wonder though, because if they dare to open their mouth, they’re shot down by the ignorance claiming they’re not American and are hit with racist attacks.

You should never fear anyone, you stand up for what you believe strongly in, and never care what anyone thinks of you because of it. Although seeing the tyranny of SOPA and PIPA, it’s a good thing, because we’re now starting to see the masses waken up to their tyranny, now starting to see what they’re made of. Whether people like Republicanism or not, whether people like Ron Paul or not, you have a choice, stay with tyranny and be lead towards slavery of Communism, or be the nation you were born to be, free no matter what those problems may stand in it’s way.

The people need to stand up and be heard, instead of this attitude of lying down and taking it, with the attitude that your vote doesn’t count. That maybe true, to a certain degree, but when you have an overwhelming majority voting to a landslide victory for Ron Paul, then your government has no option. The only way the education, health care and many other things will improve, is if the economy improves. For as long as you keep voting for tyranny, your economy will spiral right down the toilet. Just look at the European Union, there’s Greece now suffering threat of Bankruptcy. Now although this may sound crazy, but I would rather be in their situation, facing bankruptcy, because at least they’ll start a fresh with their currency, rather than the state they’ve been in, with a declining currency.

For me, this could be the biggest revolution in America’s young history, one that is not only a change for themselves, for the good, but for many other nations looking for freedom. The European Union is a prime example of that tyranny, formed by the New World Order. Sad as it is, people think because they see in media, that it means it’s a conspiracy theory, well when you see your own MP’s discussing about the New World Order and hear bankers speaking about the New World Order, you’d then realise, it’s not a conspiracy theory. You’d think SOPA and PIPA is enough of a wake up call.

My word for anyone outside the United States of America is, if you hate Americans, it’s time you look at the bigger picture. Stop looking at their government for judgement, ignore the type of patriotic arseholes who are arrogant or ignorant, (that’s not to say all patriotic Americans are that way) and start looking at other Americans, who are genuinely nice people. They deserve to be acknowledged, they are a people as much as you are, and they are not to blame for the fault of certain people or their governments actions.

I will also state, that not knowing where certain places on a map and not having good Geography, does not make you stupid, it means you lack knowledge in that specific area. I was never that interested in Geography at school, that doesn’t mean to say I’m ignorant, or that I don’t care about other nations, because I’m someone who LOVES countries like Italy and many other nations out there. Yes, you will come across people with a lack of knowledge, take me for example. If American people don’t understand who the British people are, I will speak passionately of who’s fault it is, the media’s. I won’t blame the people, instead, I look to educate them, give them the true information they deserve, not what the false media has fed them. Get to know them and you will benefit, you’ll see yourself there are a good number of Americans who are not all parochial, in fact a lot of them show great enthusiasm to over here.

My examples of ignorant Americans however, and why America is hated, are based upon those ignorant ones I mentioned and it’s important to note, again, that is largely the media’s fault. I’ve came across certain Americans I’ve tried to educate, and instead, had nothing but ignorance thrown back in my face. No country is perfect, so I’m sure you can acknowledge that.

Let me tell you a short story of the good American people that exist. I was up north in Fort William, climbing part of Ben Nevis with my friend, a group of Americans got off at the car park and started walking up behind us. The two kids frantically darted up in excitement, me being unfit, they managed to catch up and go ahead. As walking past, I could see right through the boys eyes, it was a genuine stare that he loves us Scots, we’re an admired people over in America, it wasn’t a matter of seeking attention for any wrong reasons, it wasn’t a case of being show off’s or wanting to be the centre of attention for anything wrong that some may take the wrong way. Instead, the boy smiled friendly and I smiled back and gave him the nod, to let him know he’s welcome here in our dear country Scotland.

American people love Scotland and our people, you mention Braveheart to Americans and you’ll always get the random American from some where shouting ‘FREEDOM’ or ‘WALLACE.’ I don’t take it as a case of mocking us, from my own experience, analysing a lot of Americans, they genuinely admire this country, and I dislike seeing certain Scots speak so negatively about all Americans. And I would never take it in a bad way, if any American claims they are Scottish, you take that with great compliment. There are a lot out there who know what our nations people have achieved, what we’ve done for this world and they know that. They’re proud of their heritage and have every right to be.

Of course, there are ignorant Americans, I don’t deny this, but there are a lot of American people out there, who genuinely admire our people and would never mean harm. To me, there is enough hatred in this world and I could even speak about certain people I hated from school, but that doesn’t mean I hate every Scot. I’ve seen many Americans who have came here to Scotland and they’ve been very happy, not all of them I’m sure have been ignorant. Certain Americans that have been however, well again, blame their media that they’re born into. A brainwashed culture that believes the value of life is what you own.

History Books

You take the typical prideful American, who has this massive ego, mix it in with being uneducated, and you have your stereotypical American. That’s not to say that all American people are like that, in fact a lot aren’t. That is just how most people across the world view Americans. The ignorance of these Europeans and the rest of the world, didn’t just come from no where, it came from some where. For there to be ignorance, there has to be a reason. In my eyes, there is a reason for everything. For me the biggest problem as stated, is the education. Now don’t get me wrong, there are a lot of smart American people out there, I would never question that, but the number of people in America, who don’t even realise that the British flag is not English, is astounding.

I’ve often been told that American people are not really taught much at school about Britain, I’m not entirely sure, I think it was mentioned about history, which is fair enough. I will say however, in relation to that. When Americans are claimed as being stupid, by people stating that Americans don’t know where countries are on a map, I would some what question that. Some what, yes certain people can be stupid for not knowing where certain places are on the map, however, mostly anyone who lacks knowledge of where most countries are on the map, it’s not a case of them being stupid, it’s just a lack of education and knowledge which is the reason. Again, that doesn’t make them stupid or ignorant.

For me, America needs to sort out their libraries, that’s one of the first things that should be done. I mean think about it, American people picking up Scottish books under an English section I heard? I’m not entirely sure, all I can say is, if this is the case, that needs sorted. However, when it comes to England and Wales, they’re listed as British, Scotland isn’t. That to me is unbelievable, why? Because a very large part of British history, is Scottish. Yet American people, assuming they got the books from a section based on England’s history that is British, they’re going to assume British is English. Again that is not the peoples fault, when you make common fundamental mistakes such as that.

The lack of knowledge in America, is the contributing factor to why Americans are called stupid and ignorant. Speaking from experience, I know many Americans who would not argue with what Scotland has achieved or what Scotland has contributed to America, even for it’s educational establishments, so there is some what evidence there, that there are Americans with better knowledge. I suppose this all goes down to what school they may attend, what state they are from. If I’m correct in saying so, some states perhaps maybe richer and have better education than others. Therefore, there is no equality throughout the United States, because every state is different.

I hope for America’s sake, more people waken up to the tyranny of their own government and manage to at least get someone in power who will make a change to their educational system. It may and in my eyes would make America a less ignorant nation as a whole. Other than that however, I do know there are a lot of nice people out there, so this is not taking a dig at all Americans.

Socialism

This materialism bred throughout the United States, brainwashed by it’s media is also one of the concerning reasons why competition is also one of the biggest problems in the American culture. American people are brought up believing that what they possess is what makes them worth who they are. Prime example of this can be seen in today’s modelling agencies. Women are brainwashed to believe by this media that they must look a certain way, coincidently, they brainwash woman to believe that what is attractive is actually what is dangerous for your heart. These poor woman suffer from this media, from magazines, to television, they look in the shops and the first thing they think of are the celebrities and what they wear. They see the size ’6′ dress and they think, “I’d love to fit into that.” Little do they realise, these celebrities or models are brainwashed that this is how you must look to be attractive.

Model woman, sticking their two fingers down the back of their throat, forcing themselves to be sick, lack of eating, starving themselves, thriving to become what media claims to be attractive. The whole competition exists deep within American culture, bred to believe this is what you’re worth, all based upon what you wear and how you look. Doesn’t matter where you look in America, or what it is, everything is a competition. Take Scotland for example, someone asks you what you’re doing at College or work, you tell them what you’re doing and they’ll compliment you. They’ll say, “Oh that’s good, aye that’s good, hope it works out well for you, you know, that’s the thing, it could get you on the right path, hope it turns out really well for you.” There’s a genuine friendliness, the person will genuinely wish you well and hope for the best for you.

In America, it’s common you’ll find instead of compliments, they compare themselves to you, it’s like this culture where they feel the need or feel threatened to a point, they need to compare themselves, and if it’s not comparing themselves, they’ll speak about their family member. It’s the same for certain Americans who some how find it difficult to compliment Glasgow, my home city, as a beautiful city, some of them actually feel the need to add in the little bit that it ‘reminds them’ of such and such a place in the US, you know? It’s almost like they can’t accept anywhere outside their own country possibly being better than where their from, it’s too hard to accept for some of them.

Even when it comes to sport, you could speak about your achievements, and instead of compliments and wishing you well, these certain folk will find some way to speak highly of themselves, they’ll question you in many ways, and in sarcastic manner, will find anyway to chop you down a level. This constant need to try and take digs at one another, the negative atmosphere, the need to show off and prove one is greater than the other.

It is sadly not common, that you’ll find American people dish out a straight forward compliment without feeling the need to speak about their family member, what they’ve achieved, or their country. Reverting back to models and woman and lassies in general, they purely judge other lassies or woman based upon what they’re wearing, and if that person is wearing something they adore, let’s say new shoes for example. There’s a jealousy that creeps in. Instead of a true image of compliments flying her way, they’ll hit out with a remark such as, “I was going to get them, but they weren’t really for me.” And even if you find a compliment, it’s half hearted and not as genuine.

Another big problem happens to be that American people are stereotypically boasters, seen as big headed, show off’s, so if the woman has a new pair of shoes, she’s constantly hinting for her friends to look at them. Even if it’s mentioning how she feels funny walking about in them. This materialism and boastfulness is often what creates this competition. It is not as common that you’ll hear, “your shoes are are beautiful, you’ll look a million at the dance.” There are certain folk in America however, who have no problem with that, have complete ease complimenting others, but sadly, it is not as common.

This is why the lassie I showed around Glasgow, cringed when she found out the book was only sold in America, it’s why the other lassie spoke of how much better the States was, because the Starbucks in London never had what they have back home. The relation to materialism, the constant need to compare. Even the woman that went to Loch Ness and because she couldn’t stomach that the scenery was better than anywhere she lived back home, she said “I loved Inverness it was beautiful, but not as beautiful as my America, not as many trees.” The media has been the cause for years, as to why Americans are hated, not because of what our people see through media, (although that is partially the reason) but for brainwashing their own people to being parochial, to being socially ignorant, to being a country that thinks they’re the greatest thing since sliced bread.

It reminds me of the joke:

“Where do you come from?” the Scotsman asked an American.
“From the greatest country in the world,” replied the American.
“Funny,” said the Scotsman, “you’ve got the strangest Scottish accent I’ve ever heard.”

There are a lot of American woman, who live their life surrounded by image. They see their friends getting married, they see trends around them happen from early ages, they feel there’s a need to have a boyfriend. Being single and being outside the box is something they see as a problem. One of the biggest issues, are the woman who feel the need to get

married, because they see others getting married. They want that special guy, special moment, they want to be that centre of attention for that one day, for people to see them in that spotlight. Often rushing two feet into things without much thought, living their life by an egg timer. Things must happen now, or else. Living life in fear, with the belief brainwashed into them, that if they don’t get married of have a baby by a certain age, life is all doomed to hell. Yet look around you to the statistics of the high divorce rate in the United States, it speaks for itself. Everything is about image and competition, about being in the light.

The American guy that stated that American was far ahead of other countries in terms of it’s society in treating people well, it just about proves that is nothing but utter crap, and I can safely say that having been brought up in a country that is loved the world over, for it’s people. People view the Scots as very friendly for a reason, we have that reputation and there is a reason for it. Just like American people being hated, there’s reasons for it. Sad as it is, there are stereotypes, and not all American people are bad, but to state America is far ahead in terms of it’s society, in treating people, is just pure arrogance. I would strongly disagree, I would say it’s far behind a lot of nations. It didn’t become hated just because of it’s government, yes those that control America are the biggest reason, after all, they’re the ones that control the media, and are brainwashing the people, but the people play their part as well.

“They get upset and frustrated, so they take it out on America. It’s no different to people wanting the very successful to fail.”

That sort of attitude makes me cringe, because to be perfectly honest with you, like Scotland, like the rest of Britain, like anywhere in this world, we really couldn’t care less how successful America has been. In fact with countries like Scotland or Italy, even Greece, you look at our history, you can see for yourself why we wouldn’t care less about the success America has had. In fact much of America’s success is actually based off of Scotland’s very success, Scotland’s foundations. Scotland has never cared less about England’s success, in fact, the reason Scots want an independent Scotland, has nothing to do with England’s own success, it’s a case of our people wanting our own identity, to be noticed for it. I’ve had Americans tell me, “America has achieved far more in it’s 200 year history than Scotland has achieved in it’s 14,000 year history.”

Really? That explains why Sir Winston Churchill quoted saying something no historian could argue with, “Off all the small nations of this earth, perhaps only the Ancient Greeks could surpass the Scots to the contribution to man kind.” Yeah! Achieved more than the country that basically not only gave America it’s medical education, Colleges, Schools, Universities, Independence, US Navy, street lighting, television, refrigerator, key rings, Halloween, Hollow drainage pipes, Macadamised Road surface, fences to keep cows onto fields, mobile telephones, the list is endless.

They sit and view the modern world through the eyes of the Scots, after all, where about’s did the whole of Europe in the late eighteenth century look to, to learn about modern day man kind and the way man kind thinks today? They read it from the likes of David Hume and Adam Smith to name a few. It was Scotland the whole of Europe was learning from, not France! That is where man kind today has it’s view on this modern world, based off Scotland’s foundations of the modern world. So when you look out in the world of Economics, History (which is largely a Scottish Invention in itself, along with so many of your social sciences) and many other contemporary things in this world, you view it through the eyes of the Scots.

So when you have someone talking about America’s success, you can see instantly, that there is this view, almost as if American people just dropped out the sky and appeared from no where. It’s like who cares who the Scottish people were, our Independence was American, yeah, that explains why American people who were the natives, hated the Scots. Therefore, if they hated the Scots and the Scots colonised the south, I take it just by the click of the finger, they magically became Americans? Funny that is, isn’t it? 1717 they settled in America, funny enough, as if by magic in the early 1800′s when the Ku Klux Klan were formed, they as if by magic, hated Catholic people. But oh aye, that’s right, they were American. Now I don’t disregard the fact these people were American, but it’s important to note, these specific American people clearly were who they were because of their Scottish roots, that’s what is often missed out.

“Claim your pride in such a bunch of racists all you want Scotty.” What makes me cringe is that the whole view is that Americans just dropped out the sky, lets forget where they came from. See what people don’t realise about their own American history is, the highland clearances started in 1717, they didn’t finish until the early 1900′s. So when you have Americans like that, banging off to us about success and their independence, what makes me cringe, is the very fact they think they just turned up on the land and magically turned successful because they were ‘American.’

I don’t have to go into much depth, but to put it in short, if my people 2,000 years ago, are no different to who we Scottish people are today, other than our build and lifestyle, then the people who settled in America 300 years ago, are no different to the Scots 100 years later, into the 1800′s. So the success didn’t just fall out the sky and happen because they were ‘American.’

You look at Scots back 2,000 years ago when we fought the Romans, do you honestly think the Scottish people then, who were the Picts and Scotti, cared who the Romans were? Our people couldn’t care less, they didn’t even care what the Romans had for armour or what land they may have owned, the only thing our people cared for, was fighting for what was rightfully their land and their freedom. It’s like the same thing with the British Empire, when you look how successful England became, they ruled the world, think William Wallace and Robert the Bruce cared who they were? Of course not, who cares about their success, when you just want to be left alone and live your own way.
